The final matchday in Group A was intense, especially the showdown between hosts Thailand and Vietnam. Though the game only decided the group winner, it provided fans with a thrilling experience.
Coach Diego Giustozzi’s Vietnamese squad twice came from behind to level the score with the hosts, with Cong Vien emerging as Vietnam’s hero by scoring a brace against Thailand.
With a dramatic 3-2 victory, Duc Hoa and his teammates topped Group A with a perfect record of 12 points from four games. This result handed Vietnam the top spot in Group A, while Thailand, having lost, finished in second place.
As Group A winners, Vietnam will face Australia, the runners-up of Group B, in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Thailand is set to meet Indonesia, who topped Group B. The clash with Indonesia poses a tough challenge for Thailand, as the Indonesian team has shown significant improvement and won all three of their group-stage matches.
The semifinal between Vietnam and Australia is scheduled for 3:00 PM on November 8, followed by the Thailand-Indonesia semifinal at 6:00 PM the same day. The third-place playoff and the final will take place two days later.
