VietNamNet Bridge – The newly-established 954 air force-naval brigade can perform the following tasks: military transport, reconnaissance, aerial, water-surface and on-the-ground observation, search and rescue at sea, on land and rescue and flood prevention.
Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan paid a visit to the 930 Naval Air force Regiment.
On July 3, the Ministry of Defense handed over the 954 Air force Brigade of the Air force – Air Defense Armed Services to the Navy Armed Services to form the 954 Air force – Naval Brigade. The same day, the 930 Helicopter Regiment of the Air Defense Force was also established.
Based on the basic functions and the current capability, the 954 Air force-Navy Brigade can perform the following tasks: military transport, reconnaissance, aerial, water-surface and on-the-ground observation, search and rescue at sea, on land and rescue and flood prevention.
The tasks of the 930 Helicopter Regiment consist of performing observation flights, aerial, ground and water surface reconnaissance, military transport in the Central Region, Central Highlands and Southern Gulf of Tonkin, serving the Party, State and the Army high-ranking officials, participating in search and rescue, rescue and flood prevention, cooperating with other forces, participating in training activities for helicopter pilot trainees of the Air Force Officers’ Training School.
Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Army stressed that from now on, the Navy has had the air force. The two units need to quickly strengthen the organization, staffing force, ready to take on and complete the tasks right from the first days.
