VietNamNet Bridge – The beauty pageant opened several days ago and Phan Thi Mo was nominated very late so she could not well prepare for the event. That’s the reason that the Performing Art Agency denied to license Mo as Vietnam’s representative to the Miss Earth pageant.

The Performing Art Agency made the decision on November 22.

However, the agency’s argument does not please the public because Phan Thi Mo is considered an experienced contestant. Mo was crowned beauty queen of a local beauty contest in 2010, ranked fifth at the Miss Vietnam World 2010 and entered the top ten of Miss Asia USA 2011.

Vietnamese contestants often attended international beauty pageants late. Miss Vietnam Nguyen Thi Huyen joined the Miss World pageant when all sub-contestants finished. Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy also took part Miss World 2006 very late.

It is unacceptable when Vietnam does not send its contestant to the Miss Earth 2011 while it will host the Miss Earth 2012. The absence shows the host country’s unprofessionalism.

Before Mo was nominated, the Performing Art Agency did not license model Ngoc Thach because she has not won any title at national-level beauty pageants. After that, model Thai Ha was allowed to attend the pageant but she suddenly announced to withdraw.

The Miss Earth 2011 opened in the Philippines on November 18. The crown ceremony will be held at the Theater of the Philippines University, Quezon, in Manila on December 3.

The pageant was previously scheduled in Bangkok, Thailand but it has been moved to Manila since Bangkok was flooded.
