Playing in the Philippines, Vietnamese men got off to a good start with three consecutive points before showing a lack of concentration, letting their hosts trounce 25-22 in the first set.

Players such as Tu Thanh Thuan and Truong The Khai performed impressively and continuously scored points for their team, overwhelming their hosts 25-18 and 25-20 in the next two sets.

The fourth set saw Filipino players flex their muscle and beat their Vietnamese visitors 26-24 in their spectacular comeback, earning an equalizer.

In the crucial fifth set, the Vietnamese players maintained their utmost focus and caution in every attack, and the hosts could not stop the Vietnamese sweep as the set ended 15-7.
