This is part of the 2024 population and housing census launched by the General Statistics Office in Hanoi on April 1.

This is a very large-scale census that focuses on housing and the number of people living in the house, according to Nguyen Thi Huong, head of the GSO at the launch ceremony.

The GSO will gather information about population and housing in the 2024 census to support the implementation of socio-economic development tasks for 2021-2025 and formulation of similar tasks for 2026-2030, said Huong.

The census is also to monitor progress on the Sustainable Development Goals committed to by the Government of Vietnam to the United Nations, and to support population and housing statistics nationwide and in each locality, she added.

Survey data are for statistical purposes only, not for issues of permanent residence, temporary residence, tax collection and other purposes.

Data will be gathered in all 63 cities and provinces nationwide from April 1 to 30, and the results will be made public later this year.
