Vietnam Food Association demands priority clearance for rice stuck at ports

The Vietnam Food Association has petitioned authorities to prioritise customs clearance of consignments of rice exports stuck at ports.

Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes resuming rice exports

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has proposed resuming rice exports from April, with a volume of 400,000 tonnes, after it has compiled reports on production, domestic consumption and exports to submit to the Prime Minister.

Vietnam sees rice export growth in January

Vietnam exported 560,000 tonnes of rice in January 2020, earning US$270.3 million, an increase of 12 per cent in volume and 39 per cent in value month-on-month, according to the General Department of Customs.

 

Thai policy on rice subsidy is double-edged sword for Vietnam

The government of Thailand has approved a budget of 21.5 billion baht to ensure a rice price at a reasonable level for Thai farmers. The policy is expected to have a negative impact on other export countries, including Vietnam.
