Chairman of Vietnam Football Federation Nguyen Trong Hy submitted his resignation at the federation’s Executive Board meeting in Hanoi on December 5.

The General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the VFF Executive Board with 100% votes approved the Chairman’s resignation, due to his health issues.
Chairman Nguyen Trong Hy nominated Vice Chairman Le Hung Dung to be the VFF Acting Chairman, which was accepted by VFF.
Nguyen Trong Hy was appointed VFF Chairman for the fifth VFF's term (2005 – 2009) and re-elected for the sixth term (2009-2013).
Also at the meeting, VFF’s Executive Board members agreed the number of relegated and promoted football teams for the 2014 football season.
Accordingly, the V-League 2014 will feature a team relegated to the First Division, while there will be a relegated team from the First Division to Second Division and two teams promoted to the V-League 2014.
Vietnam attends ASEAN ministerial meeting on sports
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai is leading a delegation to attend the 2nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS), which opened in Vientiane, Laos on December 5.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thamnavong stressed the Lao Government encourages and supports the organisation of sporting events, adding that the country considers sports a task for the whole Lao society.
He said the government has implemented the strategic plan to boost the development of sporting activities, focusing on improving the physical fitness and morale of its people, while participating actively in sports in the region in order to strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation with international friends.
The PM highlighted the important role played by the AMMS in promoting the development o f human resources in sports in ASEAN member nations.
He also called on participants to make more contributions to successfully implement the meeting’s theme “Sports for cooperation, friendship, peace and development”.
Vietnam enhances sports cooperation with world
Vietnam wants to broaden its sporting collaboration with other nations and views sport as an impetus to national development and friendship between countries.
The view came from a working session between Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace Wilfried Lemke in Hanoi on December 6.
At the event, Lemke expressed his wish for better understanding on the role of sports in Vietnam , especially gender equality and sports for people with disabilities, with the further aim of enhancing a culture of tolerance and peace between nations around the world.
The two sides agreed that sports play an important role in promoting gender equality and disabled people’s integration into the community.
Deputy Minister Bien said he hopes that the guest will serve as a bridge to help Vietnam strengthen its sports collaboration with the world.
He added that Vietnam backs the UN Office on Sport Development and Peace (UNOSDP) Youth Leadership Programme to be held in the Republic of Korea next year. The programme looks to encourage young people all over the world to contribute their knowledge to the development of the community.
As part of his trip to Vietnam, Lemke will evaluate a project called “ Vietnam community - focused football” in the northern city of Hai Phong .
The project, implemented in Do Son district of Hai Phong and all localities of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, aims to stimulate children aged between 6 and 15 to join in a non-competitive football movement.-
