Vietnam grab two medals at junior wrestling champs

Vietnam grabbed one gold and one silver medals at the Asian Junior Wrestling Championships 2015 held in Myanmar from July 9-12 for 18-20 year old wrestlers.

This year’s championship was attended by 14 countries in the region, including Vietnam’s eight-athlete team.

Kieu Thi Ly from Hanoi won a gold medal in the 51-kilogramme weight class after beating wrestlers from India, Japan and Mongolia. She is also a SEA Games champion who brought home a gold from the games in Singapore last month.

Pham Ha Phuong pocketed a silver in the 44-kilogramme weight division.

Vietnam gears up for AFF U19 Championship

The national U19 men’s team gathered on July 14 to prepare for the 2015 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championship.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan has called 28 players including 8 players from U19 of the Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talents (PVF) and 7 players from Viettel Club.

During one month training, coach Tuan will choose 25 best players for the team.

The 2015 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championship is scheduled to take place in Laos from August 22 to September 4.

Vietnamese fencing team competes in Russia world champs

The national fencing team are currently competing for medals at the ongoing 2015 World Fencing Championships in Russia.

Opened on July 13, the event is scheduled to conclude on July 19.

Nguyen Tien Nhat, Vu Thanh An and Nguyen Thi Le Dung are among the top young talents with high hopes for medals at the competition, which will offer them the opportunity to secure a slot at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The team earned eight gold medals at the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) 2015 in Singapore.
