On the evening of August 21, the first grand rehearsal for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) left a powerful impression on spectators. Military and police units marched in vast formations across Hanoi’s streets as cheers and encouragement rang out. Among them were three international contingents, invited by Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense: Russia, Laos, and Cambodia.

The Russian Federation was represented by an honor guard of 30 soldiers from the Preobrazhensky Regiment. This legendary unit, deeply rooted in Russian military tradition, symbolizes honor and glory. Today, the regiment serves in state protocol, welcoming heads of state and participating in major parades.

The Lao Ministry of Defense sent 120 soldiers, including 20 who had previously taken part in Vietnam’s 50th reunification anniversary and 49 who participated in Russia’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory.

The Royal Cambodian Army also dispatched 120 officers and soldiers to march in the parade alongside Vietnamese troops.
