Vietnam holds cycle race
The 2015 Viet Nam national cycle race drew 140 athletes when it kicked off in the southern province of Vung Tau yesterday, Oct 13.

The cycling teams include Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Military and Vinh Long Television. They'll compete for 16 sets of medals in races for women and men, at several different distances.
Top cyclists are in with a chance of national team selection.
Hanoi takes lead in athletics
The Ha Noi team's first-place finish at the National Athletics Championships, which wrapped up in HCM City yesterday (Oct 13), owes much to star athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh.
Of Ha Noi's 14 gold medals, the 19-year-old runner Oanh contributed six golds and won the title of best athlete at the event.
On the last day of competition, Oanh took gold in the women's 200m with a time of 23.54sec. It was her best time in this race to date.
Oanh also bagged golds in 100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, 400m and 400m hurdle.
The Military team finished second with seven golds, and Thanh Hoa ranked third with four golds.
The five-day tournament involved 400 athletes from 44 teams nationwide, competing in 50 medal events.
More records set in finswimming
Nguyen Thanh Loc from HCM City broke his own record in the men's 50m snorkelling with a time of 15.86 seconds in the National Finswimming Championships yesterday.
His previous record, made last year, was 15.91sec.
Tran Thi Truc Linh of the Military team set the second record in the third day of the competition when she clocked the women's 800m immersion (diving with oxygen flask) in 6min 42.23sec, surpassing her old record of 6min 49.82sec.
HCM City still came out on top at the third day of competition in Da Nang with nine gold, four silver and two bronze medals, ahead of Ha Noi with five gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
Da Nang was in third, bagging two golds, four silvers and four bronzes.
