Vietnam hopes the search and rescue efforts will help find the missing victims of the AirAsia QZ8501 flight soon, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Hai Binh said in response to new information related to the flight.

“We are very sad to learn of information related to the AirAsia’s QZ8501 flight. We send our deep condolences to the Government and people of nations having their citizens on board the flight, and hope the search and rescue efforts of the involved parties will help find the missing victims soon,” the spokesperson said on December 31.

Vietnam leaders offer condolences over AirAsia plane crash

President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 31 sent their condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the crash of AirAsia Indonesia’s flight QZ8501.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also conveyed his sympathy to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi.

Flight QZ8501 with 162 people on board, including 155 Indonesians, went missing on December 28 while en routing from Indonesia ’s Surabaya to Singapore.

On December 31, search teams found seven bodies and debris of the plane.
