VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam will be in Group A with Thailand, Iran and Chinese Taipei in the upcoming Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship, according to the event’s draw held on Sunday in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

Group B includes China, South Korea, Kazakhstan and Japan.

The tournament will be held in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on September 14-20.

The event will be broadcast live on the SMMSport channel of Thailand and Viet Nam’s VTC channel.

Viet Nam ranked fifth at last year’s event.

Vietinbank win VTV volleyball cup

Viet Nam’s Vietinbank won the VTV Binh Dien Long An Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Sunday (March 27) in Ninh Bình Province.

Vietinbank defeated Chinese Jiangshu club 25-23, 26-24, 21-25, 39-37 in a thrilling final match that lasted two-and-a-half hours.

Earlier, Binh Dien Long An took the bronze medal after their 25-21, 14-25, 25-18, 25-23 win over Lien Viet Postbank in the third-place playoff match.

The tournament provided a prize of US$48,700, and Vietinbank walked away with $15,000.

Apart from the top three medals, the organisers also presented awards to top individuals such as best player, libero and spiker, as well as Miss Volleyball.

Eight clubs competed at the annual event, which ran from March 19-27.
