The three-day event, which is co-organised by the Vietnam Tourism Association and the municipal People’s Committee, Department of Tourism and Tourism Association, aims to boost tourism recovery post COVID-19 and lure international travellers to the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet said since March 15, Vietnam's tourism industry has been gradually recovering with many  positive signals. The country has so far has served 2.7 million international visitors and nearly 100 million domestic holidaymakers. The total tourism revenue has reached over 457 trillion VND (19 billion USD).

With its role as the economic centre of the central region, Da Nang is one of the bright spot in the country in terms of tourism. It is one of the three important domestic tourist attractions.

The official said the event will create a chance for travel firms and localities in the central region and the country as a whole to update information and explore cooperation opportunities.

During the fair, there will be meetings between domestic firms and foreign ones to exchange tourism products and set up partnerships, thereby accelerating the tourism recovery.

The expo is expected to welcome more than 2,000 enterprises and 30,000 Vietnamese and foreign visitors.

A series of workshops are also scheduled as part of the event, including those on ways to develop sea-based tourism in central Vietnam, leisure tourism properties, and digital transformation in tourism, according to Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Tourism Association./. VNA
