Vietnam and Japan signed and exchanged a diplomatic note on the enactment of their agreement on double tax avoidance and tax evasion prevention, at a ceremony in Hanoi on April 15.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and Japanese ambassador to Vietnam Fukuda Hiroshi represented the two governments to sign and exchange the note.

Vietnam and Japan signed the agreement in Hanoi on October 24, 1995, and with the exchange of the diplomatic note, the document will be applied to the Japan Finance Corporation (JFC) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

Son and Hiroshi said from now on JBIC will fully enjoy appropriate benefits in line with the agreement, showing the two governments’ interest in the bank’s operations in Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese government’s acknowledgement of the bank’s contributions to economic development in the country, especially in infrastructure construction and energy development.

They expressed hope JBIC will continue to contribute to promoting economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries, so as to deepen their extensive strategic partnership established during State President Truong Tan Sang’s Tokyo visit in March 2014.
