VietNamNet Bridge – A panel of Vietnamese and Japanese experts on October 25 spoke about the importance of preserving and conserving Asian architectural heritages at an international seminar in Hue City.

In particular, the seminar focused on conserving and developing the Vietnam Hue imperial relic complex – a Word Cultural Heritage Site.

At the event, Dr Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue Relic Conservation Centre, said many cultural heritages in Vietnam and Japan face challenges resulting from the environment and socioeconomic growth.

Japan has sponsored the conservation of wooden architecture in Hue imperial relic complex since 1994, Hai added.

UNESCO chief representative in Vietnam Katherine Muller Marin noted the seminar aims to provide opportunities for both Vietnamese and Japanese experts to share conservation experience.

She hoped that the conservation of architectural heritages in Hue will become typical examples in the world, like Nara or Horyu-ju Kondo in Japan.
