According to the newly released Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD) from the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Vietnam has moved two spots upward compared to 2020. It is one of the four Southeast Asian countries named in the top 50.

The Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD) 2021 was officially announced by the Universal Postal Union at the World Post Day 2021 celebration which was held online and televised on UPUTV channel on October 8.

Attending the online celebration in Vietnam were officials of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Post Corporation.

In addition to commemorative activities, attendees discussed the topic of the World Post Day 2021 - "innovation for recovery". Officials of the postal industries of member countries discussed innovation, creativity, and the use of technology in delivery, e-commerce, logistics, fintech... and the great efforts to maintain the chain of activities and provide services to the community of each member country.

Vietnam Post General Director Chu Quang Hao shared a short video clip about the activities of Vietnam's postal enterprises, with the motto "Innovation for recovery" during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vietnam was praised by the Universal Postal Union for actively participating in the UPU international letter writing contest. Within 34 years joining this contest, Vietnam has won 16 international prizes, including 2 first prizes, 1 second prize, 6 third prizes and 7 consolation prizes.

At the latest 50th UPU international letter-writing contest, a letter to a little girl born in the Covid-19 epidemic center by a Hanoi pupil named Dao Anh Thu won the third prize.

On October 9, the Ministry of Information and Communications released a set of stamps entitled "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the UPU International Letter Writing Contest (1971-2021)" designed by Vietnam Post’s painter Pham Quang Dieu.

The UPU chose October 9 as World Post Day. This year, celebrating the 147th anniversary of UPU and the 52nd anniversary of World Post Day, UPU will organize a number of commemorative activities with the aim of raising awareness about the role of the post in people's daily lives and business, as well as postal contributions to global economic and social development.
