The first Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia border defense friendship exchange is scheduled to take place in mid-December 2023 in the common border area of the three countries, said Colonel Nguyen Duy Minh, deputy head of the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.

Vietnamese Defense Minister Pham Van Giang, Lao Defense Minister Chansamone Chanyalath and Cambodia Defense Minister Tea Seiha will lead their delegations to the gathering.

During the exchange, the ministers will salute and paint the common border landmark of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, and plant trees at the common border area of the three countries.

They will then visit and present gifts to Be Van Dan primary school in Ngoc Hoi District of Vietnam’s KonTum province. They will also sign a document on the annual meeting between the three countries’ Ministers of National Defense, and witness the signing of cooperation documents.

Meanwhile, the border guard forces of the three countries will conduct a joint patrol and check the common border landmark, along with military medical exercises.

The success of the exchange will contribute to strengthening political trust, promoting friendship and solidarity, and increasing cooperation between the three countries’ border guard forces, thereby building the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development, said Col. Minh.

This is the first time that Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have organized their joint border defense friendship exchange.
