The National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations held an awards ceremony in Hanoi on January 17 to honour 66 outstanding literature and art works in 2016.
The winners included eight of the most outstanding works produced by members of the central literature and arts associations, and 58 others by artists from local literature and arts associations.
Among the 58 works produced by artist from local literature and arts associations, ten B, 22 C and 20 consolation prizes, along with six young author prizes were presented. This year’s awards did not include an A prize.
In 2016, the organising board received 349 works from 52 local literature and arts associations across the country.
The entries sent to this year’s awards were appreciated for their high quality. Notably, young artists were more creative in style, while their works reflected the daily life of people and the nation’s traditions.
Many works featured important issues facing the country, including the protection of Vietnam’s sovereignty over seas and islands.
