Chinese tourists arrive at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested local tourism authorities to improve services to maintain high growth in Chinese visitor arrivals this year

China is the largest source market for Vietnam’s tourism sector. Therefore, cities and provinces will have to protect the interests of Chinese tourists and improve the quality of services for them, said the ministry.

The ministry has also asked provincial governments to strengthen management of tourist destinations and develop travel support centers and hotlines to deal with tourist complaints, including those by Chinese guests. They should also have staff responsible for assisting Chinese tourists.

Strict sanctions will be imposed on tour operators that violate regulations while providing sufficient information about those travel agencies specializing in the Chinese market on official websites.

Last year, nearly 2.7 million Chinese visited Vietnam, up 51% against 2015. In the first four months of this year, Vietnam welcomed over 1.27 million Chinese tourists, up a hefty 61.1% year-on-year.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, tourism promotion agencies and travel firms from some provinces are jointly implementing a 10-day promotion program in Nanning, Fuzhou, Nanjing and Hefei in China.
