According to the Ministry of Defense, the blast at the fireworks warehouse at the Z121 Factory in October makes the available volume of fireworks for the New Year holiday inadequate. Therefore, Z121 wants to import more low-range fireworks.

The Government has asked for the opinions of the relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the issue.

The Ministry of Public Security has expressed its support to the proposal through a document sent to the government last week.

Meanwhile, sources from the Government Office said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have also back the Ministry of Defense’s proposal. However, they noted that the imported volume of fireworks should be considered carefully and Z121 Factory should resume firework production to meet domestic demands.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Ngoc Tien, Business Manager of Z121 Factory, said that restoring fireworks production is underway. The factory is doing the procedure for the construction of the new fireworks enterprise in a new location.

This factory currently can ensure the fireworks supply for the five biggest cities in Vietnam this New Year, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. The factory wants to import low-range fireworks from a Japanese company, which is its close business partner for more than a decade.
