VietNamNet Bridge – That is the statement by Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang, Secretary General of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, regarding Vietnam’s plan at the Olympics 2012.



Vietnam has received good news in recent days, with four more Olympic cards, including two from weightlifting, one from rowing and one from swimming. So far, the country has gained 16 tickets to Olympics.

“We have never won such a number of official cards. In the past, Vietnam won only 3-4 official tickets, the remaining were wildcards,” Mr. Giang said.

The official added that the number of Olympic cards may increase. “We have many outstanding athletes who are capable to win Olympic cards like Truong Thanh Hang, Vu Thi Huong and Viet Anh of athletics and female boxers,” he said.

According to Mr. Giang, Vietnam is able to win three medals at the Olympics London. Previously, the country had one karate silver medal at Olympics 2000 (Hoang Hieu Ngan) and one weightlifting silver medal in 2008 (Hoang Anh Tuan).

Vietnam’s hopes at the upcoming Olympics are: taekwondo artists Huynh Chau and Dieu Linh, gymnast Ha Thanh and shooter Xuan Vinh, he said.
