“2014 was an exciting start for mobile marketing in Vietnam,” said Phan Bich Tam, country manager of Mobile Marketing Association (www.mmaglobal.com) in Vietnam.

At its 2014 Smarties Award to honour creative mobile marketing campaigns, MMA received more than 70 submissions entries. “Many brands have recognised the potential of mobile apps in connecting to customers,” remarked Tam.

Tam expects that the use of mobile apps for marketing is going to explode in 2015, as the number of smart phone and 3G users in Vietnam is going to continue increasing. Moreover, with the growing popularity of OTT apps, mobile games, mobile payment functions and sharing economy apps, mobility has an ever-growing impact on Vietnam’s economic and social development.

In this context, mobile application outsourcing platform Applancer, in cooperation with IT and start-up news site Action.vn and e-learning service provider TOPICA, is going to hold Vietnam Mobile Day 2015 – Age of Mobile, in June, as a fifth instalment of the annual event. The event, besides updating developers on the newest trends in mobile technology, aims to connect companies that produce and sell mobile products and services with customers and government agencies regulating the sector.

Topics discussed at the event include the application of information technology in healthcare, the Internet of Things, mobile payment, the use of mobile phones in corporate operations and the effective recruitment and management of mobile developers. In addition, companies will have a platform to introduce their products and apps to potential customers at their exhibition booths.

This is the first time the event is held in three big cities, namely Hanoi (on June 6), Ho Chi Minh City (on June 13) and Danang (on June 20).  In the past four years, activities only focused on HCMC.

The event organisers expect to see the participation of 5,000, including developers, companies and government agencies interested in mobile technology. Participating companies include FPT, VTC, Grabtaxi and Applancer.
