Vietnam will play on the home turf and they must win this game if they want to advance to the next round, said Troussier at a press briefing in Hanoi on March 25.

Indonesia stunned Vietnam 1-0 in the first leg match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualification on March 23, pushing their opponents to third position in Group F.

Though Vietnam will have three games left, the Indonesia clash is described as vital. The door would be wide open for Vietnam if they defeat Indonesia on March 26, or a losing game would put an end to their World Cup campaign.

Vietnamese players are aware of their responsibility and they must improve their focus and concentration skills to get the best result, said the French coach, who also called for stronger support from home spectators on March 26.

Meanwhile, coach Shin Tae Yong of Indonesia showed his confidence that his players would win the game though they only need a draw to enter the next round.

In Group F, Iraq maintained their winning streak in their first three matches, while Vietnam were trailed by Indonesia into third position. Both Vietnam and Indonesia will play Iraq, and the Philippines that were at the bottom of the table.

The Vietnam vs Indonesia match is due to take place at 7pm at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi.
