
Vietnamese and Japanese tour operators exchange information and introduce travel products.
The office is established to assist Vietnamese and Japanese tour operators but also to help State agencies un tourism management as well as provinces in Vietnam to promote tourism.
The opening of the office in Tokyo will contribute to realize the two countries’ plan to raise the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam to one million in the coming years.
Japan is one of the most important markets for Vietnam tourism. Last year Vietnam welcomed over 600,000 Japanese tourists (ranking third in Vietnam), while Japan received over 85,000 Vietnamese tourists (up 55 percent compared to 2012).
Japan has been preparing to exempt visas for tourists from Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is one of the initiatives of a revised action plan to turn Japan into a tourism-oriented country.
