Vietnam is ready to create all conditions and work closely with rescue forces of China and other countries to search for the missing Malaysian plane and deal with related matters.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh made the commitment during the March 9 phone call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Minh said the Vietnamese government and people follow with keen interest and share the deep concern of the governments and people of Malaysia and other related countries, as well as the families of passengers on the missing flight.
He said on hearing the news Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has instructed relevant agencies to deploy forces to join search and rescue work with those from neighbouring countries.
Vietnam has dispatched a number of helicopters and navy ships to the site where the Malaysian plane was reported missing, and it will deploy more helicopters and rescue forces.
The Vietnam National Committee for Search and Rescue has worked around the clock since the incident happened. A special body was established and located on Phu Quoc island to guide search and rescue work.
The Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs established a special mission working around the clock to handle the case.
FM Wang thanked the Vietnamese government and people for their timely interest and assistance, and expressed hope the Vietnamese side will continue supporting Chinese forces in their search and rescue operations.
Earlier on March 8, Deputy PM and FM Minh talked over phone with Malaysian FM Dato Sri Anifah Hj Aman, showing Vietnam’s resolve to join regional search and rescue work to search for the missing plane.
