GMS economic cooperation’s goal is to promote integration and infrastructure development, improve general knowledge of human resources, facilitate the cross-border transport of goods and passengers, and develop energy trade.
Vietnam- an active member of the GMS economic cooperation has benefited greatly from the initiative of the cooperation.
The country has so far engaged in more than 100 regional technical assistance (RETA) projects.
Promoting the Vietnam- Myanmar friendship
Traditional ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar continue to be strengthened through exchanges of visits by high-ranking delegations.
Despite failure to meet leaders’ expectations and slow growth, the two-way trade turnover between the two countries has continued to grow.
Over the past ten months, two-way trade was estimated at US$125 million, up 46.6 percent over the same period last year.
Both nations successfully organized the Myanmar Goods Fair in Vietnam in January and the Vietnamese Goods Fair in Myanmar in November.
During PM Dung’s visit to Myanmar, the two sides will discuss measures to enhance the ties of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, accelerate the implementation of agreements reached by senior leaders, and iron out snags for businesses when penetrating mutual markets. They will also discuss ways to promote further coordination at regional and international forums.
