During the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with heads of state from Korea, India, Brazil, Turkey, and more.
On November 22, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders while attending the G20 Summit.
Meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, Prime Minister Chinh congratulated South Korea on its 80th National Day and praised its successful hosting of the APEC Summit. President Lee expressed his condolences to the Vietnamese people over the recent flood disasters.

Both leaders agreed to further strengthen political trust through high-level exchanges, enhance cooperation in national defense and security, and expand trade and investment ties. They also affirmed a shared vision to turn science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation into new pillars of the bilateral relationship.
President Lee emphasized South Korea's commitment to expanding labor cooperation with Vietnam and expressed interest in deepening collaboration in this area.
They also pledged to coordinate closely on regional and global issues of shared concern. South Korea expressed support for Vietnam in hosting APEC 2027 and offered to share its experience.
Prime Minister Chinh conveyed invitations from General Secretary To Lam and senior Vietnamese leaders for President Lee to visit Vietnam soon.
In his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Chinh proposed expanding market access for each other’s goods and exploring a trade agreement. He also encouraged the Indian government to support high-quality investments from Indian corporations in infrastructure, green energy, and logistics projects in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Modi welcomed these proposals, supported high-level visits, and stressed the need to facilitate bilateral trade amidst global uncertainties. The two leaders agreed to push for breakthroughs in trade and investment, as well as expand defense, security, and tech cooperation.
In a reunion with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, both leaders celebrated the robust progress in Vietnam-Brazil relations since upgrading to a strategic partnership. President Lula affirmed Brazil’s commitment to deepening ties with Vietnam, especially in economics and trade.
Prime Minister Chinh thanked President Lula for Brazil’s decision to recognize Vietnam's market economy status. The leaders agreed to improve conditions for trade and investment, open markets for agricultural products, and enhance cooperation in coffee production and exports.
Meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam’s interest in strengthening ties with Turkey. President Erdogan acknowledged Vietnam as an important partner in Asia.
Both leaders agreed there was untapped potential in the relationship and set a goal to raise bilateral trade to 4 billion USD. They also discussed forming new trade and investment frameworks, including a possible free trade agreement.

Prime Minister Chinh also met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, congratulating him on successfully hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit. Both sides praised the swift implementation of cooperation initiatives and emphasized the importance of a deeper, more substantial comprehensive strategic partnership.
PM Anwar supported Vietnam’s proposal to sign an agreement on Halal industry cooperation and to effectively implement the MoU on defense collaboration. Prime Minister Chinh also called for greater maritime cooperation and humanitarian treatment of detained Vietnamese fishing boats and crew.
In talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister Chinh proposed effective implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), aiming to raise two-way trade beyond 8 billion USD.
The leaders discussed creating new cooperation mechanisms in infrastructure, high-speed rail, science, technology, innovation, agriculture, and human resource development. Prime Minister Chinh also suggested visa waivers for holders of ordinary and official passports between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sánchez recalled his warm impressions of his visit to Vietnam in April and stressed the importance of boosting trade and investment in high-potential sectors. He called for stronger tourism, cultural, artistic, and sports exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of Vietnam and Spain.
Spain, he added, values its ties with Vietnam and supports deepened cooperation between the EU and ASEAN.
