A Vietnam high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his spouse will attend the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Malaysia on November 21-22.
This was announced by Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Hai Binh at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 12.
At the summit, ASEAN leaders will evaluate the implementation of a Roadmap for an ASEAN Community (AC) to be established late this year, put forward measures to accelerate ASEAN connectivity to promote ASEAN role in the region and enhance ASEAN capacity to meet new requirements and challenges in the coming time.
They will also discuss regional and international issues related to peace, stability and security.
Vietnam attends the event with the aim of realising its foreign policy of independence and self-reliance for peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of international relations, and proactively and actively engaging in international integration.
The country also aims to strengthen ASEAN solidarity and unity and its important role in ensuring peace, security, cooperation and development in the region.
