According to its publicly disclosed 2025 financial report, released in 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) generated total operating revenue of VND 2.23467 trillion (approximately US$85 million).

This compares with VND 1.88706 trillion (US$71.7 million) in 2024 and VND 1.68654 trillion (US$64.1 million) in 2023.

Between 2022 and 2025, the university's total operating revenue rose from VND 1.42216 trillion to VND 2.23467 trillion, an increase of VND 812.51 billion (US$30.9 million), or 57.1%.

Revenue from education and training activities reached VND 1.60726 trillion (US$61.1 million), including VND 1.52955 trillion (US$58.1 million) in tuition and other fees paid by students.

Student payments accounted for the overwhelming majority of the university's education and training revenue.

Over the four-year period, tuition and fee revenue increased from approximately VND 1 trillion to more than VND 1.529 trillion, a rise exceeding VND 500 billion (US$19 million).

The figures indicate that tuition remains the university's primary revenue source and a major contributor to its expanding financial operations.

Beyond education and training, science and technology activities generated VND 581.14 billion (US$22.1 million) in 2025.

This represented an increase of VND 60.29 billion, or 11.6%, from the previous year and approximately 55.2% compared with 2022.

Within science and technology revenue, external contracts and sponsorships contributed VND 45.59 billion, while other revenue amounted to VND 531.71 billion.

This breakdown shows that most science and technology revenue was recorded under the category of other income rather than external contracts and funding.

Research expenditure exceeds $20 million

In 2025, UEH's total operating expenditure reached VND 1.66562 trillion (approximately US$63.3 million), up from VND 1.45974 trillion in 2024.

Of this amount, the university spent VND 743.29 billion (US$28.2 million) on facilities and services, accounting for approximately 44.6% of total operating expenditure.

This was the university's second-largest expenditure category, behind salaries and other employee income.

Compared with 2022, spending on facilities and services increased from VND 647.49 billion to VND 743.29 billion, a rise of VND 95.8 billion, or nearly 14.8%.

However, the increase was not consistent throughout the period.

In 2024, the university spent VND 751.62 billion on facilities and services, approximately VND 8.33 billion more than in 2025.

Notably, most spending within this category was allocated to research.

Research expenditure reached VND 539.04 billion (US$20.5 million) in 2025, representing approximately 72.5% of total facilities and services spending.

Meanwhile, direct expenditure on education and training amounted to VND 82.54 billion, staff development costs reached VND 16.48 billion, and general and other expenses totaled VND 105.23 billion.

Compared with 2022, research spending increased from VND 383.89 billion to VND 539.04 billion.

This represented a rise of VND 155.15 billion, equivalent to approximately 40.4%.

By contrast, general and other expenses declined sharply from VND 204.25 billion to VND 105.23 billion, a reduction of nearly 48.5%.

Salaries and employee income exceed $31 million

UEH spent VND 821.14 billion (approximately US$31.2 million) on salaries and employee income in 2025, an increase compared with previous years.

Of this amount, VND 467.44 billion was allocated to lecturers, while VND 353.7 billion went to other employees.

Compensation for lecturers accounted for approximately 56.9% of total salary and income expenditure and 28.1% of the university's overall operating expenditure.

This represents a substantial allocation of financial resources to personnel directly involved in teaching and research.

In 2025, UEH also spent VND 100.78 billion (US$3.8 million) on student support.

Scholarships and financial assistance for learning accounted for VND 84.37 billion, representing approximately 83.7% of total student support expenditure.

Compared with 2022, student support spending increased from VND 59.29 billion to VND 100.78 billion.

This was a rise of VND 41.49 billion, equivalent to approximately 70%.

Scholarship and learning assistance expenditure alone increased from VND 51.69 billion in 2022 to VND 84.37 billion in 2025, a gain of VND 32.68 billion.

Meanwhile, spending on student research activities rose from VND 1.35 billion to VND 4.33 billion.

Expenditure on other student support activities also increased, from VND 6.25 billion to VND 12.08 billion.

After deducting total expenditure from total revenue, UEH recorded an income-expenditure surplus of VND 569.05 billion (approximately US$21.6 million) in 2025.

The surplus represented 25.46% of the university's total revenue.

It increased from VND 427.32 billion in 2024 to VND 569.05 billion in 2025.

Compared with the VND 233.3 billion surplus recorded in 2022, the university's income-expenditure difference more than doubled over the four-year period.
