In the past five years, Vietnamese authors have published 39,408 WoS articles, and 58,426 Scopus articles. Of which, 22,531 WoS articles (57.2%) and 52,871 Scopus articles (90.5%) came from higher education institutions.
The number of WoS and Scopus articles increased at the highest level in 2018 - 2019.
Specifically, the number of WoS articles rose by 32% (from 7,480 to 9,884 articles) while the number of Scopus articles increased by 77% (from 8,807 to 15,594 articles) during this period. As a result, by 2019, Vietnam reached the milestone of more than 15,000 international publications on the Scopus list.
The number of international publications in 2020 continued to go up compared to previous years.
To encourage universities that published many scientific articles in journals on the list of ISI, SCI, and SCIE in 2020, earlier this year the Ministry of Education and Training awarded 34 universities that had a total of 3,627 articles published in prestigious international scientific journals.
These are universities under the Ministry of Education and Training, excluding national universities, colleges affiliated with other ministries, branches and non-public schools.
Among them, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology has the most articles (491 articles) with a total reward of nearly VND 1.5 billion. Hue University (321 articles) received VND976 million, Da Nang University (311 articles) with VND 960 million and Thai Nguyen University (236 articles) with VND722 million.
