From 2am on September 1, passengers will be able to make online ticket bookings and payments. Their tickets will be sent to their email addresses or mobile phones with the ticket code and other details. Passengers will be able to commence their travel after telling the railway station ticket sellers their ticket code.

In the first phase, the e-ticket selling system had allowed passengers to book tickets and pay for them online, but they still had to get tickets at stations at least 30 minutes before departure.

Doan Duy Hoach, deputy director of the Vietnam Railway Corporation, said the software editing for electronic tickets had been completed.

The new e-ticket system will allow passengers to choose their seats, and pay for them anytime and anywhere without having to get the ticket at the station.

Passengers can access the websites vetau.com.vn, vietnamrailway.vn and dsvn.vn for the tickets.
