On December 3 the Transparency International (TI) announced the Corruption Perceptions Index 2013 (CPI 2013).
The index ranked 177 countries and territories based on the perceived level of corruption in the public sector.
The index was based on 13 independent surveys, conducted with experts and businesses.
This year, Vietnam ranked 116 out of 177 countries and territories with the same score to last year: 31/100.
Vietnam is among two thirds of the countries with the scores below 50.
Denmark topped the world for the clean level, in the same class with New Zealand.
In Asia - Pacific, China ranked 80th with a score of 40/100.
Compared to other Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam ranked 7th, after Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
