Vietnamese authorities have received 110 citizens returned from the United States after they were denied permission to remain in the country, the Ministry of Public Security’s Immigration Department said on the morning of Sept. 12.

The department coordinated with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to receive the group at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

The 110 citizens came from 17 provinces and cities across Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the largest number, with 42 people. An Giang, Dong Nai and Khanh Hoa each had nine, while seven were from Dong Thap. The remainder came from other localities.

After receiving the group, the Immigration Department worked with relevant agencies to check and verify their information. It also coordinated with local police forces to ensure the citizens returned safely to their places of residence.

Initial verification found that several individuals were suspected of having links to networks that facilitated illegal entry into the United States. Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cases.

The Immigration Department advised Vietnamese citizens traveling to the United States for study, employment, tourism or settlement to carefully familiarize themselves with US immigration, residency and other applicable laws.

It also warned people against trusting organizations or brokers offering to facilitate illegal departure, entry or residency, citing the potential legal risks involved.
