Vietnam took a flag to feature its host of the fifth ASIAN Beach Games (ABG 5) at the closing ceremony of the ABG 4 in Saphan Hin Park, Phuket, Thailand on November 23.
ABG 5 is scheduled to take place in the central cities of Danang and Nha Trang city from September 24 to October 3, 2016 with the participation of 4,000 athletes and coaches from 45 countries and territories.
At the event, athletes will also seek a berth in the world’s first beach games, which would be held in Barcelona (Spain) or Cannes (France) in 2017.
Vietnam ranks fourth at Asian Beach Games 2014
Vietnam secured the fourth place in the medal tally of the 4th Asian Beach Games (ABG 4- 2014) in Phuket, Thailand, with 8 gold, 11 silver and 20 bronze medals.
In their final competition (November 22), Vietnamese athletes grasps four gold medals in Muay and body building events.

The gold medalists included Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in Muay 57kg category who trounced Kazakhstan rival 5-0 in the final round.
In the women’s Muay event, Vietnam’s Bui Yen Ly defeated an outstanding athlete from the host country 4-1 to clinch the gold medal. Her teammates, Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc and Le Duc Hoang bagged silver medals at the 48kg category.
In the bodybuilding event, Nguyen Hai Au and Se Pha became champions, while Tran Duc Thuan pocketed a silver medal.
