The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has reached an agreement with the management board of the My Dinh National Sports Complex to host Vietnam's home matches at My Dinh Stadium during the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
The decision marks a return to Hanoi's largest football venue after the national team played its home fixtures at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho during the 2024 ASEAN Cup campaign.
The move is expected to provide a significant boost for coach Kim Sang Sik's side, with My Dinh Stadium capable of accommodating more than 40,000 spectators - roughly double the capacity of Viet Tri Stadium.
My Dinh also holds special significance in Vietnamese football history, having witnessed the national team's ASEAN championship triumphs in 2008 and 2018.
Vietnam drawn into challenging Group A
At the 2026 ASEAN Cup, Vietnam has been placed in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia and the winner of the playoff between Timor-Leste and Brunei.
The tournament will be played in a home-and-away round-robin format from July 24 to August 8.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Both the semi-finals and final will be contested over two legs.
According to the schedule, Vietnam will host Singapore and Cambodia while travelling away to face Indonesia and the winner of the Timor-Leste-Brunei playoff.
South Korea training camp planned
Vietnam is expected to assemble in late June before departing for a training camp in South Korea as part of preparations for its title defense campaign.
After completing the overseas training program, the team will return home to begin its quest to retain the ASEAN Cup crown.
