Public opinion is virtually unanimous that China’s illegal installment of a drilling rig in Vietnam’ exclusive economic zone and continental shelf threatens the peace, stability and security in the East Sea.

As a big country, China needs to conduct itself in conformity with international standards and norms, in a manner consistent with Vietnam’s behaviour.

Vietnam bringing the matter of China’s infringement upon its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf to the United Nations alone is definitely a right step.

The UN is an internationally prestigious agency with a large number of member countries, therefore, Vietnam’s voice will make it easier for countries to know the real situation in the East Sea, Greig Craft noted.

US senator McCain in a recent speech said that if people lie too much, then many people who hear the lie may think it is true.
