Vietnam is now the only comprehensive strategic partnership of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region and bilateral ties have reached the highest ever level, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnokov said at a press conference in Hanoi on May 13.

He underlined that President Truong Tan Sang’s attendance at the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War recently is the most vivid manifestation of the two peoples’ friendship, mutual trust and understanding.
The ambassador told the media that during the President’s visit, Moscow and Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement on strengthening cooperation in a wide range of fields, including technology, machine manufacturing, food technology, trade, and banking.
He added that the Vietnamese leader also launched via a TV link a new complex in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Rusvietpetro, a joint venture between the Russian oil group of Zarubezhneft and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group.
Mentioning the two countries’ military technology cooperation, including a contract on Russia’s transfer of its submarines to Vietnam, the ambassador said that the transfer is on progress as scheduled and Russia is helping Vietnam train sailors to run the submarines.
The diplomat also suggested the two countries expand cooperation in investment, trade, education and training to deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
