Authorities at Phu Loi Ward Police Department are working with related units to urgently collect evidence and clarify details regarding the reported theft.

The individual who filed the report is martial artist Huynh Van Dung (born 1988), a native of Dak Lak Province and currently residing in Phu Loi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Huynh Van Dung is a well-known figure in Vietnamese martial arts. Between 2010 and 2016, he won seven consecutive national gold medals in kickboxing, a bronze medal at the 27th SEA Games, and a silver medal at the Muay Kingcup in Thailand. These accolades earned him the title “Vietnam’s King of Kickboxing.”

After retiring from competition, Dung opened a gym in Thu Dau Mot City, formerly part of Binh Duong Province, offering training in both fitness and Muay Thai. His facility has since attracted a large number of students.

As previously reported, on September 7, Dung went to the Phu Loi Ward Police to report that he had been robbed of nearly 30 taels of gold while sleeping in his car.

According to his statement, late on the night of September 6, he drove his pickup truck to drop a friend off at their home on Binh Duong Boulevard, located in Phu Loi Ward. After his friend entered the house, Dung parked the vehicle on the roadside and decided to sleep inside, leaving the passenger-side door slightly open.

The following morning, he discovered that a large quantity of personal belongings, including gold jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, and rings, along with a mobile phone, had gone missing. He estimated the total value of the stolen gold to be approximately 30 taels, or around USD 85,000.

Dung reviewed footage from a nearby security camera, which showed a man wearing a ride-hailing driver uniform approaching and entering his vehicle. He suspects this individual to be the thief and has submitted the footage to police as evidence.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
