High demand for qualified academics
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is in need of 27 PhD holders specializing in fields such as microchip design, semiconductor technology, data science, computer science, mechatronics, automation, applied mathematics, chemical engineering, biotechnology, and materials technology.
Vietnamese PhD holders will receive a basic salary as stipulated by the state, adjusted according to years of service, with a job-based salary of $770 per month. Foreign lecturers are offered a job-based salary of $2,300 per month.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Science is looking to hire 15 PhD holders for departments including chemistry, telecommunications electronics, physics and applied physics, computer science, and data science. PhD holders at this university receive a base salary according to state regulations, adjusted for years of service, and a job-based salary of $850 per month.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities requires 17 PhD holders and professors in fields such as German linguistics, religious studies, education, psychology, linguistics, Asian studies, Korean studies, history, philosophy, journalism, and communication.
PhD holders receive a base salary plus a job-based salary of $640 per month, while foreign lecturers are offered $1,280 per month.
VNU-HCM International University is seeking six PhD holders in business administration, information technology, computer science, data science, industrial systems, and operations research.
These candidates will receive a base salary adjusted for experience, with a job-based salary of $990 per month.
Competitive salaries and incentives
Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology is hiring 11 PhD holders in software engineering, multimedia communication, computer science, information systems, microchip design, computer engineering, and data science.
The base salary follows state regulations, with a job-based salary of $900 per month. Experienced PhD holders with at least three years of work receive $1,920 per month, while associate professors earn $2,350 per month.
To encourage academic productivity, the university provides support for scientific papers with up to $8,500 annually, research grants of $1,500, and additional funding of $4,200 for achieving the professor title and $2,900 for associate professors.
At University of Economics and Law, experienced PhD holders (three years or more) earn $1,500 per month, associate professors $2,350, and professors $2,780. New applicants can receive up to $14,900 for professors, $10,600 for associate professors, and $6,400 for PhD holders as part of the recruitment package.
Financial support is also offered for faculty members who meet the professor or associate professor criteria, amounting to $6,400 and $4,200, respectively.
An Giang University offers a salary and allowance of $640 per month to PhD holders, with a recruitment incentive of $2,560 for those meeting specific criteria. The university is currently hiring for six positions in IT, automation, foreign languages, education, and economics.
The University of Health Sciences offers a basic state-regulated salary plus a job-based salary of $680 per month. The university is seeking PhD holders in medicine, dentistry, traditional medicine, and nursing.
Attractive policies for young scientists
VNU-HCM has introduced the VNU350 program to attract young scientists. In the first two years, they are granted one research project with a maximum budget of $8,500. In the third year, the budget increases to $42,500, and in the fourth year, support for laboratory investment can reach $425,000.
For leading scientists, the initial two-year project budget can reach $42,500, and subsequent years may include laboratory funding up to $1.27 million.
In addition, VNU-HCM’s affiliated institutes, such as the Institute of Environment and Resources, the Center for Molecular and Nano Materials Research, and the Institute of Nanotechnology, are also actively recruiting PhD holders.
