Five brands currently sell book-style foldable smartphones in Vietnam: Samsung, Oppo, Motorola, Honor and Vertu.

Apart from Honor, which continues to sell its Magic V5 launched in 2025, the other brands have all introduced new foldable models to the Vietnamese market in 2026. Oppo launched the Find N6, Motorola the razr fold, while Samsung released two models, the Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Fold 8. Among them, the Find N6 had the highest launch price at nearly $2,500.

The most striking newcomer, however, is Vertu, which recently entered Vietnam’s foldable smartphone market with the AlphaFold.

But a phone from the ultra-luxury brand is far from accessible to everyone. Even the least expensive version starts at more than $8,500, while the top-end model costs over $38,000.

In terms of specifications, the AlphaFold does not particularly stand out from other book-style foldable phones currently on the market. It has a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.05-inch main screen with 2K resolution. Both use LTPO OLED panels and support a 120Hz refresh rate.

For performance, the phone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Supreme processor built on a 3nm process, along with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

The device features a triple rear-camera system comprising a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP telephoto camera, as well as a 20MP front-facing camera. It has a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery supporting 65W fast charging, along with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC connectivity.

On the software side, the phone integrates Hermes Agent, VERTU’s AI system, which supports interaction with more than 70 applications and can perform 64 categories of tasks through voice commands. The device also comes with the A5 Security Chip, Private Space, end-to-end encryption and V-Talk to strengthen protection for data, communications and private user spaces.

The reason Vertu’s foldable ranges in price from more than $7,500 to over $38,000 lies in the materials, craftsmanship and Bespoke personalization options offered with different versions.

All versions share the same underlying technology platform, while their added value comes from choices such as calfskin, crocodile leather, titanium, solid gold, diamonds and handcrafted details.

For example, the standard AlphaFold, priced at around $8,600, features amber-brown Stitched Calfskin and a logo-free back, placing the emphasis on materials and minimalist design.

At the other end of the range, the Vertu AlphaFold Black Premium Set Quad Gold YG Dia Iron Black 1TB costs around $38,300. It features an Iron Black base, with gold detailing and natural diamonds set into the body. Diamonds are placed around the camera module and along parts of the phone’s frame, creating bright accents against the black finish, while the gold details highlight the design lines.

Overall, consumers looking for a foldable phone simply to experience the form factor and use it every day with flagship-level specifications may be better served by the Find N6 or Z Fold 8 Ultra. For those with the financial means and a taste for luxury brands, however, Vertu’s foldable is another option worth considering.
