At the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), Tran Thanh Man will pay an official visit to China and co-chair the second meeting of the Cooperation Committee between Vietnam's National Assembly and China's NPC.
The October 11-15 trip will mark Man's first visit to China.
Relations between Vietnam and China have maintained positive momentum in recent years, with significant progress across multiple areas. The two countries have continued regular high-level exchanges and contacts through various channels.
A major milestone was the successful visit to China by Vietnam's Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in April 2026, which produced a wide range of substantive outcomes.
During the visit, the two sides issued a joint statement on further deepening their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and advancing the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance at a higher level in the new era.
In September 2025, Zhao Leji visited Vietnam and joined Tran Thanh Man in co-chairing the inaugural meeting of the Cooperation Committee between the two countries' legislative bodies.
Economic ties have also continued to strengthen.
Vietnam has remained China's largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for 10 consecutive years. It was also China's fourth-largest trading partner globally in both 2024 and 2025.
China, meanwhile, has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for more than two decades.
Chinese investment in Vietnam continues to grow. During the first seven months of 2026, registered investment capital from Chinese investors reached nearly $3.7 billion, up 31.5%.
China also ranked first in the number of newly registered foreign investment projects, with 849 projects accounting for approximately 35% of all newly licensed foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Vietnam.
The two countries have made notable progress in aligning their development strategies, particularly in transport infrastructure and logistics.
They are advancing standard-gauge railway connections and piloting smart border gate systems to improve customs clearance efficiency, reduce logistics costs and strengthen regional supply chain integration.
People-to-people exchanges and cooperation in education, culture and tourism have also remained active.
The countries' top leaders have announced the launch of the Vietnam-China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026-2027, adding further momentum to bilateral exchanges.
