T.A.T, 17, a victim of the human trafficking

According to PC02 police, at 0am July 5, Dong Nai Police received a request from Bac Giang Police to cooperate to rescue victims who had been deceived and sold to Cambodia. At that time, the victims were going through Dong Nai province and heading for HCM City.

PC02 contacted a female victim and learned the itinerary of the group of people. Policemen calmed the victim down and showed her how to buy time and protect herself.

The policemen discovered that Tran Xuan Truong, 20, from Thai Nguyen, was the man leading the victims traveling on a bus on Highway No1.

They then decided to catch the bus early in the area near Dong Nai Bridge.

At 1 am, when the policemen approached the bus, Truong attempted to climb onto the roof of a local house to escape. However, with professional measures, the policemen  arrested the subject.

The two rescued victims were T.A.T, 17, from BacGiang, and H.V.L, 17, from Lang Son. They said Truong had promised to help them find "easy jobs with high pay".

After they left, the victims called family members and told them about their plan. As the families realized that this was a human trafficking ring, they immediately called the police.

From victim to criminal

At the police, Truong declared that earlier this year, he became redundant and accessed social networks trying to find a job. He decided to join ‘Jobs in Cambodia’ group, where a person with nickname ‘Thu Ha’ helped him cross border gates to Cambodia to seek jobs with high income.

Truong then agreed with Thu Ha and planned to cross the border to Cambodia.

In Cambodia, Truong was forced to learn to use computers and create social network accounts to swindle Vietnamese people. As Truong could not deceive enough people as he was told to do, he was threatened by traffickers who told him to call his family and ask to remit VND25 million as a ransom fee.

After becoming free, Truong was once again seduced by ‘Thu Ha’ to join another scam ring under the guise of kitchen assistant and chef with pay of VND15 million a month. In addition, ‘Thu Ha’ said Truong would get VND3 million for every individual he brought to Cambodia.

Truong tricked V., a man from Bac Giang, and received VND5 million from ‘Thu Ha’. After that, he was asked by ‘Thu Ha’ to receive L. and T. in Lang Son and take them to Cambodia.
