Designer Chung Thanh Phong unveiled a new haute couture collection in Ho Chi Minh City, presenting nearly 100 handcrafted designs inspired by the rare beauty of mutant orchids in a runway show featuring many of Vietnam's leading models and celebrities.

Unlike his previous collections, which centered on an idealized feminine image, Chung Thanh Phong said this collection was created to celebrate the individuality of 80 women, with each design tailored to reflect a distinct personality rather than a single aesthetic.

The event attracted nearly 400 guests, including fashion figures, musicians, actors and beauty queens.

Among those attending were sisters Minh Tuyet and Ha Phuong, Miss Universe Vietnam Khanh Van and her husband, Miss Grand Vietnam Bui Quynh Hoa, runner-up Thuy Tien, singer Chi Pu, Hari Won, Trang Phap, Lohan, and diva Ha Tran.

Rare orchids inspire handcrafted couture

The collection drew inspiration from mutant orchids, flowers prized for their uniqueness because no two blooms are exactly alike.

Each garment was conceived as an individual character, combining distinctive silhouettes with carefully selected fabrics.

Its defining feature was hand-embroidered orchid motifs, crafted using thousands of gradient stitches to recreate the depth, texture and vitality of real flowers.

According to the designer, completing the embroidery alone required more than six months of work.

Vietnam's leading models take the runway

The runway brought together several generations of Vietnamese fashion models, including Lan Khue, Ha Anh, Vo Hoang Yen, Huong Ly, Lai Mai Hoa and Huynh Tu Anh.

The presentation unfolded in two acts, beginning with ready-to-wear designs before transitioning into handcrafted evening couture.

One of the evening's standout moments came when Hoang Thuy appeared in a dramatic lingerie-inspired couture look, delivering one of the show's most memorable runway appearances.

Ky Duyen, sporting a striking short hairstyle, opened the second half of the presentation as the lead model in a strapless gown adorned with three-dimensional floral embellishments.

The silhouette was developed from orchid petal structures and sculpted around the body's natural lines using draped liquid silk reinforced by a custom-built 3D corset.

Throughout the collection, delicate materials such as chiffon, lace and silk were contrasted with metallic elements, sequins and reflective embellishments to enhance the garments under runway lighting.

The finale featured a series of 12 cut-out couture creations, highlighted by a dramatic bell-shaped crystal gown worn by Lan Khue as she closed the presentation on a 50-meter runway.

The finale pieces were produced over the course of approximately one year, involving the work of more than 200 artisans.

Together, they brought the designer's vision of individuality, craftsmanship and haute couture artistry to a spectacular conclusion.
