Born in 1986 in Nam Phuoc Town, Duy Xuyen District, in what was formerly Quang Nam Province, Trung has spent his entire academic and professional life dedicated to higher education.
Immediately after graduating from Foreign Trade University, he was retained as a lecturer. From there, he steadily rose through the ranks, holding key administrative roles such as Deputy Head and then Head of the Business Department.

In April 2020, at just 34 years old, he was appointed Vice Director of Campus II at Foreign Trade University.
Trung received comprehensive training at both prestigious domestic and international institutions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in international economics from Foreign Trade University in 2008, a master’s in business administration in 2011, and a second master’s degree in law, economics, and management - specializing in banking and finance - from the University of Lille 2 (France) in 2012. In 2017, he completed a doctorate in management science at the same French university.
In 2020, he became an associate professor in economics at the age of 34.
By 2025, he has authored or co-authored 76 scientific publications, including 35 articles published in internationally recognized journals (24 in SSCI-indexed journals and 11 in Scopus/ESCI), with 27 as the lead or sole author. Notably, 14 of the international publications were released after he became an associate professor. He also published 40 domestic articles and one international online paper.
He has co-authored eight books, including two monographs (one fully authored and one with four chapters), one textbook, and five scholarly books published by reputable publishing houses.
In addition, he has led one national-level research project, one funded by the NAFOSTED Foundation, one at the institutional level, and one technology transfer project for a business.
“After being awarded the title of associate professor, I focused on deepening my academic expertise, mentoring colleagues and students in scientific research, and contributing to enhancing the university’s training quality,” Trung stated in his academic profile.
Over more than 16 years of service, he has consistently upheld the ethical standards, professionalism, and dedication expected of a university educator. He respects his colleagues, treats students fairly, and strictly follows all educational regulations.
Trung teaches both undergraduate and graduate students and has been certified by the University of New Brunswick (Canada) and the University of Bedfordshire (UK) to teach in international joint programs. His teaching style emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and student engagement.
During 2023–2024, student teams under his guidance achieved outstanding results, including second prize at the Ministry-level “Science and Technology for Undergraduate Students” awards and two first prizes at the university-level “Student Scientific Research” competitions.
He actively collaborates with young lecturers and students to publish both domestic and international papers, contributing to a dynamic academic environment at Foreign Trade University’s Campus II.
Trung considers scientific research and technology transfer to be core components of university teaching. He leads projects across various levels, regularly publishes academic books to support teaching, and promotes international academic collaboration.
As Vice Director of Campus II, he oversees training and scientific management, helps shape policy, develops educational programs, and works to improve the university’s research quality.
“I believe I have fully met the standards and responsibilities of a university lecturer. I will continue refining my ethics, innovating my teaching methods, and improving my research, technology transfer, and management skills. I strive to live up to students’ trust, colleagues’ confidence, and society’s growing expectations for higher education,” Trung shared.
In 2025, Vietnam has 900 newly certified professors and associate professors, including 71 full professors and 829 associate professors. This count includes individuals from both military science and security science fields.
