Being placed in Pot 2 means Vietnam will avoid facing strong rivals in the second qualification round.
The Vietnamese team advanced to the next qualification round after defeating Indonesia 3-0 and Singapore 11-0, and recording a 1-1 draw against India. Their top position in Group F received plenty of compliments from the media, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and football fans.
Aside from Vietnam, Myanmar, another Southeast Asian team, also progressed through to the second qualifiers of the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup. Vietnam and Myanmar have both been placed in Pot 2.
Elsewhere, Australia and China are seeded in Pot 1.
Pot 3 sees the presence of Iran and Nepal, whilst Lebanon and Chinese Taipei are in Pot 4.
The draw for the second round will be held at the AFC’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this March.
For the second round scheduled to run from June 3 to 11, the eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four teams.
The four best sides will earn a spot in the finals alongside the highest seeds from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019, including champions Japan, the Democratic People Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, and hosts Uzbekistan.
The top 3 of the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup 2024 will win tickets to the finals of the 2024 FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.
