Vietnam will regroup on September 21, when the FIFA international window for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 begins. The team are expected to depart for Indonesia on September 23, giving them two official training sessions before their opening match of the tournament.
Vietnam will begin their FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 campaign against the Philippines at 7:30pm on September 26 at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. Three days later, coach Kim Sang Sik’s side will face Thailand in a highly anticipated encounter before travelling to Jakarta to take on Pakistan on October 2.
The Division 1 group-stage matches will run from September 25 to October 3. The Division 1 final is scheduled for 8pm on October 5 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, while the third-place playoff will kick off at 4pm on the same day.
If the final remains level after 90 minutes, the two teams will play extra time, with a penalty shootout deciding the winner if they are still tied after 120 minutes.
With the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 taking place during an official FIFA international window, the tournament gives Vietnam an opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition while pursuing their goal of challenging for top spot in Group B and securing a place in the Division 1 final.
As for Vietnam’s squad, coach Kim Sang Sik is expected to announce his selection after the second round of the 2026/27 LPBank V-League. The squad will largely feature players who recently defended Vietnam’s ASEAN Cup 2026 title. While Van Vi will miss out through injury, Kim is awaiting the return of midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc.
