The team, comprising four talented students from the High School for Gifted Students under the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), secured two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, placing Vietnam among the top four performing countries.

The students, Pham Cong Minh and Hoang Xuan Bach, both clinched gold medals, while Nguyen Huu Tuan and Pham Ngoc Trung brought home silver and bronze respectively. This remarkable achievement underscores Vietnam's growing prowess in the global digital arena.

The 36th edition of the IOI was held in Alexandria, Egypt, from September 1-6. This year’s competition saw direct participation from 353 contenders across 91 countries and territories.

Despite the fierce competition, Vietnam’s IOI team demonstrated exceptional skills and creativity, particularly in a challenging environment marked by high-caliber problems requiring innovative solutions.

The problems presented during the competition were highly demanding, requiring a blend of in-depth knowledge and creative application, a testament to the evolving landscape of the digital age where countries are increasingly investing in nurturing young tech talents.

The closing ceremony of the IOI 2024 is scheduled for the evening of September 6 in Alexandria, where the achievements of young talents will be celebrated.

This year’s success builds on Vietnam’s solid performance in the previous years and highlights the country's commitment to advancing its educational standards in computer science and information technology.
