Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovakia Ho Dac Minh Nguyet held a reception in Bratislava on February 12 to mark the 65th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyet highlighted the increasing development in traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations. The relationship has been promoted in various fields, especially in politics, economics-trade, investment, energy and education in recent years.

The Government and people of Vietnam always remember the fine sentiments and valuable assistance Slovakia provided during the past struggle for national independence as well as in national construction and development at present, Nguyet stressed.

For his part, State Secretary of the Slovakian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Peter Burian affirmed that his country appreciates Vietnam’s position and role in the international arena, as well as its support for the European Union (EU)’s expanded cooperation with ASEAN to achieve greater market penetration in the region.

Slovakia backs the early completion of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement, which is expected to bring more cooperation opportunities to both sides’ businesses, he said.

The Slovakian diplomat hailed the Vietnamese community in Slovakia and the Slovak-speaking community in Vietnam for their contributions in promoting the friendship and all-around cooperation between the two nations.

As part of the event, a photo exhibition highlighting the bilateral diplomatic relations over the last 65 years was arranged.
