Following confirmation from Thep Xanh Nam Dinh Football Club regarding Nguyen Xuan Son’s medical condition, head coach Kim Sang Sik has decided to recall the 1997-born striker to the Vietnam national team’s training camp for the upcoming match against Laos in the final round of 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Despite making his return after nearly a year recovering from a leg fracture, Xuan Son's chances of playing in the match remain uncertain. According to experts, fielding the striker at this point would be risky. It is likely that the South Korean coach called up Xuan Son to directly assess his physical fitness and touch on the ball after his long absence.

While Xuan Son rejoins the squad, Do Hoang Hen will have to wait for the next national team camp. Although he recently acquired Vietnamese citizenship, the midfielder has yet to meet FIFA’s eligibility requirements to play for the national team. He is expected to be available for the match against Malaysia in March 2026.

The current national team roster features many seasoned players, including Dang Van Lam, Hoang Duc, Dinh Trieu, Duy Manh, Thanh Chung, Bui Tien Dung, Quang Vinh, Van Vy, Quang Hai, Hai Long, Tuan Hai, and Tien Linh.

This is understandable, as the U22 team’s key players have been summoned for duties related to the SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.

Compared to the previous training camp, this squad includes two new faces: center-back Khong Minh Gia Bao from CA Ho Chi Minh City and striker Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong from Becamex Binh Duong. These new additions are expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the national team.

The team will convene in Hanoi on November 10, train for a few days in Phu Tho, and depart for Laos on December 15.
