VietNamNet Bridge – The number-one position on the FIFA rankings in December does not change, regardless of the results of the AFF Cup.

FIFA made public the December rankings on December 19. Vietnam still stands at the top position in Southeast Asia, with seven places up to 131st and 251 points.

Standing behind is Thailand, at the 136th position and 233 points. Entering the final of AFF Cup with Singapore, Thailand makes the most powerful promotion, gaining 56 points and 16 grades up in the FIFA rankings.

The AFF Cup that started from mid-November helped many teams in Southeast Asia significantly improve their performance.

Singapore and Indonesia obtain 9 places up, Laos 6 and Malaysia 5 grades up.

Of the 11 teams in the region, only the Philippines and Myanmar fall in the rankings, with four and 6 grades down, respectively, to 147th and 162nd.

In the world, the first three positions do not change, with Spain, Germany and Argentina. The top 10 has no change, except for the slight shuffling of the order.

In Asia, Japan, Korea and Australia are still in the top 3. Of these, only Japan goes up two spots to rank 22nd in the world.
